On 1 July 2025, the Forestry Practices Stream of the TASCAT was abolished and proceedings under the Forest Practices Act 1985 were merged into the Resource and Planning Stream of the Tribunal.  There has been no change to the sections of the Act that apply to Forest Practices proceedings.  The changes only relate to how the proceedings are housed in the structure of the Tribunal.

The Tribunal has reduced the number of forms in the RPS to make its processes easier to understand.  The Tribunal has also produced a single table that sets out all the legislation that allows an appeal or application to be made to the Tribunal.  The table is to help people complete the forms when they want to lodge an appeal or application.

Proceedings under the Forest Practices Act 1985 will follow a very similar process to all other proceedings in the Resource and Planning Stream.  The Information Sheets and Practice Directions of the RPS have information to assist you with proceedings at TASCAT.

A reminder that as at Nov 2021, legal practitioners are permitted to appear in Forestry Practices proceedings and that ADR under Section 102 and 103 of the TASCAT Act 2020 can be undertaken with these proceedings.
