Attendance at hearings

The applicant and the proposed represented person should attend the hearing.

Other interested parties are encouraged to attend or at least talk to the Tribunal's staff about what they would like included in the investigation report so the Tribunal can ascertain their views.

If physical attendance is not possible, parties or witnesses may be included by telephone.

Telephone conference attendance needs to be discussed with Tribunal staff well before the hearing, as it is not always available.

Can I be compelled to attend?

Yes. Sometimes the Tribunal may direct the Deputy Registrar to issue a summons to appear. Once a summons is issued the person must then attend as directed.

Unless you have received a formal summons, attendance is not compulsory.
