Self-Represented Parties Fact Sheet

Many people who appear before the Tribunal as a party do not have a legal representative and represent themselves.  As part of the Tribunal’s objectives to be accessible and responsive to parties, the Tribunal produces Fact Sheets and Guides.  The Tribunal has now produced a Fact Sheet specifically for self-represented parties who appear in the General Division and the Community, Children and Families Stream.

The Fact Sheet is to help people make the decision about whether they wish to represent themselves in legal proceedings before the Tribunal.  It explains what you will be required to do if you represent yourself including details of the Tribunal processes and your obligations in those processes.  It provides information about what the Tribunal can and can’t do in assisting self-represented parties and some guidance about legal requirements of the Tribunal.
